Day 44 - Sleeping In and Missing Out

Uhg.  Poker night means a LATE night out.  I didn't get home until 2:30am.  Fortunately the weather forecast was for continued rain throughout the night and most of the day.  Unfortunately the weather forecast was so ridiculously wrong and I slept right through my softball game.  I had assumed that the game would be cancelled due to rain but it wasn't.  I was out cold though.  No way I would have been good shape to play.

When I did wake up I made a nice batch of asparagus fried rice with eggs for breakfast - delicious.  I kept busy through the afternoon demolishing some of my garden construction and then rebuilding my irrigation system.  The task for today was to go underground and that meant digging trenches - lots of them.  It was definitely a good workout.  I think I finally figured out the best watering configuration for the gardens - although there are still a few compromises because the water pressure is not strong enough to keep all of my sprinklers going at the same time with the same pressure.
Several pounds of fluke fillets
After I finished the yard work, it was time to sharpen my knives and go to town on those fluke.  I have become quite adept at cleaning fluke over the years - I have the method down to a science at this point.  Tonight we would have fluke sushi with the freshest and cleanest parts of the fish.  After that, I will use the fillets in multiple preparations as fluke lends itself well to a very wide variety of cooking methods.
