Monday at work. Today I couldn't get the idea of becoming a beekeeper out of my head. If I had bees then they would provide honey for me and not only would my sweet tooth be satiated but it is also a very healthy thing to have locally made honey. Not to mention the good it would do for the environment to raise a bunch of bees. So there you have it - I'm going to do it! Just have to stock up on some supplies first.
This reminds me of an episode of Man vs Wild where the guy tried to get some honey from a wild bee hive he found in a cave. He got stung right in the middle of his forehead and because he was dehydrated a bit his whole face blew up like a balloon head. It was comical to watch but more importantly it is a learning experience and something not to be taken lightly.
Today I placed an order for a package of bees. They come in a 3 pound box of some sort. My post office is going to love me when these bees show up! It's all part of the adventure. Now that I've ordered the bees, I have to get cracking on the hive. I have a lot of reading to do and then I have to decide if I'm going to buy or make may own hive. It may come down to timing of the arrival of the bees. I'll keep you posted.
